The 2026 Midshipman Board assessment of 73RC cadets observed inadequacies in the practical and theoretical knowledge of the cadets on selected major and minor subjects. The Board therefore recommended increased emphasis on practical training, centralized fleet training and the adoption of a Midshipmen Training Book/Journal for effective monitoring of individual training and progress.
The Chief of the Naval Staff graciously approved the Midshipmen Training Book/Journal.
Accordingly, the approved guidelines should be obtained from the designated website of HQ Naval Doctrine Command for use as a reference in the conduct and assessment of Midshipmen.
