The Headquarters Naval Doctrine Command under the leadership of the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Doctrine Command Rear Admiral SU Gombe recently conducted a 2-week workup and Basic Operational Sea Training (BOST) for 9 sea going Naval ships including NNS KADA, NNS KARADUA, NNS IKOGOSI, NNS NGURU, NNS SOKOTO amongst others. The purpose of the workup and BOST is in line with the mandate of NAVDOC which is to enhance operational readiness of NN fleet through doctrinal improvement and quality assessment towards attainment of NN statutory and assigned roles.
The exercise was carried out to assess and improve the operational and fighting efficiency of NN personnel on board sea going ships in the Western Fleet for the protection of Nigeria’s territorial integrity and quick response to the ever evolving threat dynamics at sea.
This is in line with the Vision and Mission of the Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral EI Ogalla (Admiralty Medal) which aims at maintaining and equipping a professionally competent and ethical naval force while leveraging on all elements of national power for the effective defence of Nigeria’s maritime area of interest against all forms of threat in fulfilment of national security imperatives.
The NAVDOC Team is moving to Calabar and Warri to conduct BOST, Safety Operational Sea Training (SOST) and Consolidated Operational Sea Training (COST).
