1. On Thursday 13 March 2025, the Defence Attaché of the United States Colonel Tom Brooks and his delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Doctrine Command Rear Admiral SU Gombe. The visit underscored the strong collaboration between the US and Nigerian Navy, including the participation of vessels like NNS OKPABANA and NNS THUNDER, which were acquired from the US in Exercise OBANGAME EXPRESS, as well as training support at the Special Boat Service camp.

Rear Admiral SU Gombe accentuated NAVDOC’s mission which focuses on enhancing naval operational readiness through doctrinal development, training assessments, compliance evaluations, and fostering joint doctrine development with allied navies. Discussions explore collaboration in maritime research, policy development, and strategic studies, alongside joint training programs to improve naval personnel capabilities. Vital matters included sharing best practices in naval doctrine, addressing maritime security threats, strengthening naval intelligence cooperation, and planning future joint exercises, modernization efforts, and research projects. The visit was completed with gratitude for the engagement and a reaffirmation of commitment to sustained partnership and cooperation.
